    Description

The Douglas DC-3 is one of the greatest aircraft in history. Many are still flying today in private use, in the freight configuration and on the air show circuit. The DC-3's first flight was on December 17, 1935. During World War ll, the DC-3 underwent modifications to become the legendary C-47. General Eisenhower counted the C-47 among the chief Allied assets that won the war. Douglas originally had planned a production run of 100 aircraft, but from 1935 to 1947 over 10,000 aircraft of all variants had been built.
Alaska Airlines is a major American Airline headquartered in Sea Tac, Washington. The airline was founded on 14, October 1932 as McGee Airways. Alaska's fleet today consists of 329 aircraft, all of them Airbus 320 series and Boeing 737 series aircraft.
Alaska Airlines early DC-3's were converted from the cargo version of the military Douglas C-47. The DC-3 formed the backbone of Alaska's operation from the late 1940's through the mid-1950's. The airline also served as a workhorse for government contracts to the North Slope. Because at the time, there were no true landing fields in the Arctic, and the contract was year round, these aircraft were equipped with skis. Alaska Airline was the first airline to receive Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification to do so. One of Alaska's DC-3's (NC91008) in this listing is a replica of an actual restored version located at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington. The other aircraft in this listing (N15572) depicts the updated color scheme  adopted on Alaska's fleet just prior to the airline moving into the jet age of the 1960's.
Relive the glory days of aviation with these beautiful, out of production and very difficult to find Alaska Airlines Douglas DC-3 set reproduction in two original color schemes. This Hogan 1:200 scale diecast reproduction of Alaska's DC-3's are highly detailed models. They have rotating propellers, detailed landing gear with rolling tires, and come with a display stand. All sales are final. Shipping to the continental USA only.
